Joseph Meredith was born bef. 1780 in Ireland. He and Anne Jackson were married in 1802 in Diocese of Killalla and Achonry, Ireland.

The Tithe Applotment Book (ca.1830s) record Joseph Merediths in two townlands of County Sligo:
(a) Gorterdrass (parish of Achonry)
(b) Carrawntuvane (parish of Killoran)
Although in different parishes, these two townlands lie adjacent to each other, so it is likely to be the same Joseph with two holdings.
Griffith's Valuation (approx 1850s) has a widow Ann at Coolaney (Killoran parish).
It may be the same Joseph & Ann in each of these recordings and in the marriage record.

Not proven that Anne Jackson was mother of Thomas Meredith of Orangeville, Canada, but the fact that he had a son named Jackson Carson Meredith seems to support this theory.

03-Mar-1872 (Orangeville Sun) "Died" MEREDITH -- In Amaranth, on the 28th of February, Mary, the beloved wife of Mr. Thomas Meredith, aged 55 years, deeply lamented by a large circle of friends and acquaintances.?03-Mar-1872 (Orangeville Sun) OBITUARY -- An old settler of Amaranth, Mrs. Thomas Meredith, has been removed by death, at the age of fifty five years. She was the mother of thirteen children, eight sons and five daughters, twelve of whom were present at the time of her interment. Mrs. Meredith endured a lingering illness of six months with Christian fortitude. She was a zealous member of the Church of England. Her funeral was attended by a very large company of friends and neighbors, by whom she was much respected. Her husband and children are left to deplore the severe loss of a loving wife and tender mother.?(Information extracted by LP.)
