In the 1837 census there were two John Merediths living in Toronto. One was a Carter and lived on Market St.; the other was a labourer and lived on Lot St. East. 1861 census John and his wife listed next to Thomas and his family in the census record; in 1871 John is in household of Thomas, Sarah presumably died.?Gentleman of 70 at time of death due to "paralysis and old age"; Church of England (Ontario death reg'n #9087). Informant was his brother Thomas.

Thomas Meredith was born on 12 Aug 1810 in Co. Sligo, Ireland.2 He and Susanna Ardagh were married on 9 Feb 1846 in St James Church, Toronto, Canada West. He died on 10 Oct 1895, at age 85, in Toronto, Ontario, CanadaG.3
In 1881 Thomas was said to be a produce manager. The book, "A History of Toronto and County of York," contains a brief biography:

"THOMAS MEREDITH, retired, was born in the County Sligo, Ireland August 15th, 1812. His father was John Meredith, a linen draper, and his mother Mary McDonald. In 1829 he came out with his brother John and located in Little York. He was first employed as a clerk in John Watkins' hardware store on King Street East. He was in partnership with Gooderham & Worts for ten years, and dealt a great deal in grain which he brought from several of the ports on Lake Ontario. He married Susannah Ardagh, by whom he had the following children viz.: Arthur, Thomas, Richard, William, George, Sarah and Fanny. In religion Mr. Meredith is a member of the Church of England. (Vol. II, p. 110)
Believed to be the Thomas Meredith, retired merchant, who died in Toronto at age 85, of chronic bronchitis--"infirm for years." (Ontario death reg'n #22977)."

Susanna Ardagh was born ca. 1825 in Ireland. She and Thomas Meredith were married on 9 Feb 1846 in St James Church, Toronto, Canada West. She died on 21 Mar 1913, at age ~88, in 185 Gerrard St E, Toronto Ontario.2
She was the daughter of David Ardagh and Sarah Rudd.
Susannah died of "senile decay", after 7 weeks. She was said to be 85 and to have been born in Ireland. The 1901 census records her birth date as 13 January 1834 and immigration year is 1845; the 1911 census says born July 1830 and immigrated in 1835.

Apparently unmarried. In 1881 Sarah was listed as 27 and was living with her parents. In 1901 her birth year was listed as 1860 and the 1911 census says she was born May 1858. The 1881 transcriber may have misread a "1" as a "7"?

Thomas Richard: age given as 38 when he married in 1926. In 1934 Thomas Meredith filed a declaration claiming his nephew Thomas Richard Meredith had been born 21 November 1886! (Late birth reg'n #901828-1934). I have been unable to find a death registration. Family history is that he died in 1941.
