The Meredith family line in Co. Armagh has its origins around the towns of Tandragee and Poyntzpass.
The earliest recorded Meredith ancestor of the Armagh branch is George Meredith, a Carpenter of Poyntzpass, who was born ca 1777. He had four children. George's will of 1871 notes that they were 'in America'.
The principal Armagh branch is centred around the town of Tandragee, the earliest ancestor being George's brother William Meredith, also a Carpenter, who was born ca. 1787 and from whom the line descends to the present day.
It has not yet been possible to establish a connection of this Family Line to other Irish Merediths, or with possible origins in early Wales.
