Joseph Meredith entered Trinity College Dublin on 5 Nov 1810, aged 17, and completed his degree in 1816.

His entry in the Alumni Dublinenses is:
"MEREDITH, JOSEPH, Pen. (Mr Robinson), Nov. 5, 1810, aged 17; s. of Richard, Pharmacopola; b. Dublin. B.A. Vern. 1816."

His will dated 8 Oct 1832 bequeathed all his property to his mother Ellen (except his books specifically bequeathed among several persons). Probate was granted on 9 May 1833.¹

The King’s Inns Admission Papers 1607-1867 record Richard Duke Meredith as the 3rd son of Richard Duke Meredith of Dublin, apothecary, and Ellen Harrison. He was over 16 on admission in 1819.
The obituary of Richard Duke Meredith was reported in the Freeman’s Journal edition of 6 February 1830:
“At his father's residence, 28, North Earl Street, on Tuesday, the 2d instant, of a rapid consumption, Richard Duke Meredith, Esq., Attorney at Law. The consummate talent and promising abilities displayed during his professional career, added to a strict attention to those duties which help more eminently to elevate the christian. His cheerfulness of temper and engaging disposition, which, during his life, gained him the esteem and love of all who knew him, have stamped an indelible remembrance of him on the hearts of his numerous and grieved friends, who regret his premature departure from this life, at the same time that they admire his firm resignation by which he submitted to the will of that Being unto whom all hearts are open, and from whom no secrets are hid.”.
