Rev Joseph Greene was born on 15 Oct 1824. He and Olivia Douglas Johnstone were married on 26 Oct 1848 in Moydow Rectory, Longford. He died on 23 Jan 1906, at age 81, in Rostrevor, Clifton, Bristol.
He was the eldest son of the Right Hon. Richard Wilson Greene, Baron of the Court of Exchequer, Ireland. He was Rector of Cubley, Derbyshire, and pursued his interests as an entomologist and lepidopterist. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society in 1850.
