Henry Stephen Meredith was born on 26 Dec 1881 in Cloonamahon, Sligo, ireland. He and Mary Alice Plunkett were married on 5 Jun 1915 in Woollahra, New South Wales, Australia. He died on 23 Jul 1916, at age 34, in France.
He emigrated to Australia on the ship Shropshire and worked as a Furniture salesman, living at Clarence Street, Burwood, New South Wales. He enlisted on 31 May 1915, a week before his marriage, as a Private in the 3rd Battalion, 8th Reinforcement. His unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT A54 Runic on 9 September 1915. He was promoted to Lance Corporal and was killed in action in France.2
