He was a former Justice of the Peace, and when acting in that capacity was lenient, as well as just, with sympathy always for the poor man."

"FALKINER- UPINGTON.
The marriage took place at Ballykeane Church, Portarlington, on October 11th, of Mr. Richard Baldwin Falkiner, Castle Cuffe, Clonaslee, elder son of Mrs. Falkiner and the late Eyre Coote Falkiner, and Miss Isabel Margaret Upington, daughter of Thomas and Mrs Upington, Buttevant, Co. Cork. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. G. McKinley, B.A., Rector of Portarlington, assisted by the Rev. W. B.
Kenny, B.D., Rector of Clonaslee. The bride was given away by her brother, Mr. William Upington.
Mrs. Digby Odlum, sister of the bride, acted as matron of honour, and Mr. Thomas Rothwell, Bank of Ireland, Mountmellick, acted as best man."

Her death was announced in the 13th February 1993 edition of the Irish Independent, transcribed as follows:
"FALKINER (Cappaneary. Rosenallis) - Feb. 12, 1993. at the General Hospital, Portlaoise, Joan, beloved wife of the late John and dear mother of Eyre, Ian and Shirley: deeply regretted by her loving family, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren, neighbours, relatives and a large circle of friends. Removal from the hospital this (Saturday) evening at 7 o'c., arriving St. Brigid's Church, Rosenallis at 7.45 o'c. Service tomorrow (Sunday) at 2 o'c. Burial immediately afterwards in The Friends Burial Ground, Rosenallis. "In Heavenly Love abiding"."

Nathaniel FALKINER was born in 1797.1 He and Mary Ann BALDWIN were married. He and Rebecca LITTON were married on 10 Apr 1840. He died on 21 Nov 1841, at age ~44.1
He was the son of Rev. Richard Falkiner of Mount Falcon (b 1755, d 31.12.1825), who married Maria Robbins (dau of Nathaniel Robbins of Hymanstown by Frances, dau of Anthony Atkinson of Cangort by Mary, dau of Admiral John Guy).

His 2nd marriage was announced in the 15th April 1840 edition of the Belfast Commercial Chronicle, transcribed as follows:
"On the l0th inst. by the Rev. Dr. Drummond, Nathaniel Falkiner, of Ballyrickard, in the county of Tipperary, Esq. to Rebecca, third daughter of the late Richard Litton, Esq. of Dublin."1
