Biography

Thomas Meredith was born on 20 Apr 1881. He was baptised on 24 Apr 1881 in Killeentierna Church.¹ He and Eileen Kathleen Dillon were married on 30 Apr 1937 in St. Anne’s Cathedral, BelfastG.² He died on 9 May 1951, at age 70, in Brook Lodge, Uckfield, Sussex.³

Thomas Meredith was variously described as the 4th and as the 5th son. He was the owner of Dicksgrove House, Farranfore when it was destroyed by fire on the night of 12 March 1932. He was able to save some of the antique furniture and the family silver plate, but some very valuable old furniture, paintings and family plate were destroyed by the flames.

He was enumerated in the 1939 England and Wales Register as a Dairy Farmer at Brook Lodge Farm, Uckfield, Sussex, together with his wife Eileen K. Meredith, and also Kathleen Holloway and Joan Adams, both of the Women’s Land Army.^4,5,6
