The marriage of Christopher Meredith to Mary Snead is the earliest Meredith entry in the register of Tullow Church of Ireland, suggesting that Christopher was originally from another parish, and that Christopher and Mary Meredith are the original ancestors of the Tullow Merediths.

The only children of Christopher and Mary Meredith whose baptisms are recorded in the Tullow register are Elizabeth (1742) and Ann (1756). Burials for two unnamed children of Christopher are recorded in 1756 and 1762. The burials of a John and Edward Meredith were recorded in the Tullow register, in 1791 and 1816 respectively - they were both married with children, and from their inferred lifespan it assumed that they were sons of Christopher and Mary, perhaps baptised in a different parish between the 1742 and 1756.

Mary Snead is assumed to be the Mary whose baptism on February 10 1711/12, daughter of Edward Snead, was recorded in the register of Tullow Church of Ireland. She would have been nearly 29 at the time of her marriage to Christopher Meredith in 1740, and aged 44 when their youngest child Ann was baptised in 1856.

The first Snead entries in the Tullow register occur in 1701, indicating that they were an established family in Tullow.

A suggestion that Christopher married Elinor Foster as his second wife is not necessarily correct, as there was a second Christopher b. 1784, son of Edward and Mary, who could have married Elinor on November 16 1806, which was only three months after Elizabeth Hopkins' death.
