Thomas MEREDYTH and Catherine DUCROS were married on 15 Jun 1738 in St.Anne’s, Dublin.1
He was a Coachman of Dublin City at the time of his marriage to Catherine Ducros.

The record of the marriage licence is variously recorded as being for Thomas Meredith and Catherine Duncross, and for Thomas Merridith and Catherine Ducros.

The will of a Catherine Ducros dated 4 Jul 1780 and proved 10 Oct 1780, widow of John Ducros of Dublin, Apothecary, makes a bequest to her nephew Charles Meredith, who is also her executor. It is assumed that the husband Jean Ducros was the brother of Thomas’s wife Catherine Ducros.

The will of Mary de Hays of Dublin, widow, dated 10 Sep 1783 mentions her nephew Charles Meredyth son of Catherine Meredyth and her sister Catherine Meredyth otherwise Ducros.1,2

Catherine DUCROS was born on 5 Aug 1721 in Dublin.1 She and Thomas MEREDYTH were married on 15 Jun 1738 in St.Anne’s, Dublin.2
She is thought to have been the daughter of Jean and Ann du Cros. She was named in the will of Mary Dehays, widow, dated 10 Sep 1783 as her sister “Cath Meredyth otherwise Ducros”. The will also named:
- Jane Crawford, grand-niece
- John Ducrow, grandfather
- Charles Meredyth the son of Cath Meredyth, nephew
- Ann Hales daughter of Ann Hales, niece

The du Cros family were Huguenots who settled in Ireland. Original research by a descendant has been published that includes extracts of wills that were made before the destruction of documents that took place in 1922.3,1

Michael MEREDITH was born ca. 1829. He and Eliza CUNNINGHAM were married in 1850 in St. Nicholas RC Church, Francis St., Dublin.1 He died on 29 Aug 1872, at age ~43, in 128 Francis street, Dublin, Ireland.2
He was a Bellows Maker. He may have been the Michael Meredyth aged 11 admitted to the Dublin Workhouse in May 1840 and discharged in Aug 1841. He was listed in Thom’s Directory of 1868 at 5 Pluncket Street, as one of only two Bellows Makers in Dublin. Slater’s Directory of 1870 lists him as one of six Dublin Bellows Makers. The business continued to be listed in Directories as Michael Meredith after his death in 1872.3
