William Stanley PERSSE

Biography
William Stanley PERSSE was born in 1921 in Roscrea Registration District. He and Edith STRONG were married on 30 Jun 1954 in Coolbanagher Church. He died on 20 Feb 1999, at age ~78.
William Stanley Persse was the eldest son of Richard Persse of Borrisokane, Co. Tipperary.
From the Irish Farmers Journal 1957-2009, Saturday, July 20, 1996:
"STAN Persse, who has farmed 140 acres at Tinnakill House, Coolrain, Co Laois, has decided to retire from farming and what better man to sell the farm for him than his brother, auctioneer, Dick Persse of Kildare. At public auction, last week Dick got a top bid of £250,000 - there were three bidders. This was short of the reserve and the property was withdrawn. However, a deal was hammered out within the hour at a price which works out at "something over £2,000 an acre". The terrain at Tinnakill rises fairly steeply from the house and farm buildings, going up to the foothills of the Slieve Bloom mountains. The land generally consists of useful hill grazing in a non-tillage area according to Dick Persse. The old residence will need extensive repairs and modernising. The purchaser is a sheep farmer from Claremorris, Co Mayo. The land is in permanent pasture, except for four acres of oats and eight acres of spring barley."
