Major Thomas Boyle Meredith was born on 27 Oct 1837 in Dublin, IrelandG.1 He died on 24 Jul 1922, at age 84, in Graigue, Conna, Bray.2
The London Gazette of Friday, October 4, 1872, announced that Lieut. Thomas Boyle Meredith was to be Instructor of Musketry for the 18th Reg't. He was made Captain in the 18th Royal Irish regiment 12 June 1873.

In 1911 Thomas was single and a retired Major, aged 73 (although the online index to the census lists him as being 13--transcription error!) and said to be a boarder living at 54 Oldconnaught, Rathmichael, Dublin with his widowed sister-in-law Elizabeth Jane Meredith.

Probate was granted to Rev. Ralph Phineas Meredith.

John Redmond Walsingham Meredith was born on 22 May 1878 in London, OntarioG.1,2 He and Miriam Isidore Hellmuth were married on 3 May 1905 in Toronto, Ontario, CanadaG. He died on 25 Nov 1916, at age 38, in Regent Palace Hotel, London, EnglandG. He was buried in St James Cemetery, Toronto, Canada.
From the University of Toronto Roll of Service (1914-1918):
“JOHN REDMOND WALSINGHAM MEREDITH May 22, 1878— Nov. 25, 1916
Major, Ninety-fifth Battalion.
Only son of Chief Justice Sir William Meredith, Chancellor of the University; b.
London; ed. Trinity College School; Huron College; University College 1895-99,
B.A.; Alpha Delta Phi; Law School; Barrister, practising in Toronto, firm of Hellmuth,
Cattanach & Meredith; Asst. Official Guardian; 9th Horse, Lieut.; 2nd Regt.,
Lieut.; md. Miriam Isidore Hellmuth.
In the spring of 1915 he was one of the Examining Officers to the c.o.t.c. in Camp
at Niagara. Shortly afterwards he was appointed Adjutant to the 95th Battalion,
with which he went overseas in May 1916. When he was preparing to go to France
he died suddenly in London. Buried at Toronto.”

The Canadian War Graves Register records his death as being due to misadventure through an overdose of narcotic poison.

His death was reported in the 30 November 1916 edition of the Leicester Evening Mail, amongst other English newspapers, transcribed as follows:
"MAJOR'S INSOMNIA.
Death by Misadventure.
LONDON. Thursday.
A verdict of "Death by Misdventure" was returned at a Westminster inquest, today, on Major John Redmond Meredith, aged 38, of a Canadian Regiment.
Major Meredith, who was the son of Sir William Meredith, Lord Chief Justice of Ontario, died at Regent Palace Hotel, London, on Saturday.
Medical evidence showed that death was due to narcotic poisoning, through an overdose of an American preparation which the Major had been taking for insomnia."3
