Thomas Wilkinson was described as a Gardener in 1867 at the time of his marriage, and as a Carpenter from 1868-1876 at the time of the baptisms of his first children. He was enumerated in the 1911 census at Quality Row, Maryborough, and was described as a Carpenter aged 67. Enumerated in the same household were his wife Margaret, daughters Charlotte and Ethel, sons John, George and Arthur, and grandchildren May and Thomas Haslam. He also lived at 29 Grattan Street, Maryborough.^2,3

Margaret HIGGS was born ca. 1848. She and Thomas WILKINSON were married on 11 Jul 1867 in Maryborough, Queen's Co., IrelandG.¹ She died on 26 Sep 1936, at age ~88, in Grattan Street, Portlaoise.²

She was a shopkeeper. According to the 1911 census she had 12 children and 8 were still living in 1911. Note: her marriage certificate name her father as George Higgs of Ballyclider, but there doesn’t appear to be anyone of that name in the records with a daughter Margaret. Moreover, the will of John Higgs names Margaret Wilkinson as his daughter and Emily Wilkinson as his granddaughter.^3,4
