Barry Colles MEREDYTH was born ca. 1749.^1,2 He and Elizabeth EASTWOOD were married on 14 Jul 1770.³ He died on 14 Oct 1813, at age ~64, in Dublin, IrelandG.^4,1,5

Barry Colles Meredyth assumed the title of 7th Baronet of Greenhills in 1808 claiming that he was the lineal descendant of the first Baronet, William Meredith, through William’s alleged son Richard. In fact, William Meredith died childless and the baronetcy became extinct at that point. The alleged son Richard was William’s nephew, the son of his brother Robert Meredith, and there had been no claim to the title after Sir William’s death in 1664 by the generations that followed, until that of 1808. Nevertheless, the title was approved by the Ulster King of Arms and passed down from descendants of Barry Colles Meredyth until they disallowed it in 1904 at the death of Edward Henry John Meredyth.

He lived at Clonegown, King's County, Ireland and in 1806 was recorded as living at Broadstone House, near Dublin, Ireland.^6,7,8,9

He was born as Charles Dowling, but adopted the surname Medlicott when James Medlicott (of Ardscull and Youngstown, Co. Kildare. L.L.D., High Sheriff for County Kildare), who died unmarried 25 Dec. 1771, assigned all his estates to"Charles Dowling of Redhills, Ki1dare" by an indenture dated 10 Dec. 1770. He died intestate.²

Sir John MEREDITH, 1st Bart, was born on 8 Dec 1742.^1,2 He was baptised on 29 Dec 1742 in St Mary's, Dublin, Ireland.² He and Helen ENGLISH were married in Jul 1769 in Mallow, Co. Cork, IrelandG.^3,4,5 He died on 27 Oct 1799, at age 56.⁶ He was buried in South Park Street Burial Ground, Calcutta, IndiaG.⁷

John Meredith was high sheriff of Co. Meath. He was knighted in May 1783 and was created Baronet of Carlanstown on 26 Jul 1795. He lived at Carlanstown and in 1794 he was also recorded as living at Gardiner's Place. He travelled to Bengal on the ship Criterion, leaving Gravesend on 26 May 1799 and arriving in Calcutta on 12 October, but died there just over two weeks later.^8,3,9,10
