Rev. James Edmund Burton was born ca. 1776 in County Galway, Ireland. He and Elizabeth Mary Graves were married on 26 Feb 1824 in Dublin, IrelandG.1,3 He died on 25 Oct 1850, at age ~74, in Dysart Enos, Queen's county, Ireland.
He established the Anglican Mission in Rawdon, Québec Province, having been sent out by the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in London to minister to the area. He retired back to Ireland and was involved in the re-building of Holy Trinity, Dysart Enos, after the old church was damaged beyond repair in the great storm of 1839.

William Rice Meredith was born on 24 Aug 1882 in Rathdown, County DublinG.4 He and Yolande Perceval Compton Corbet Singleton were married. He died on 14 Mar 1964, at age 81, in The General Hospital, Redhill, Surrey.5
He attended a residential school (Clifton College, 1 Albert Road) in Bristol, England in 1901. He later attended Sandhurst Military College. He was awarded the CBE in 1935 and the DSO in 1918. He served in Egypt, Cyprus, Somaliland, East Africa, Uganda, India, Iraq, Malaya and Nigeria, and during World War II in Europe.

Edmund Richard Meredith was born on 5 Mar 1884 in Dublin, IrelandG. He died on 20 Aug 1917, at age 33, in Villa Trento, Italy.3 He was buried in Ravenna War Cemetery, ItalyG.
Sometimes listed as Richard Edmund, including baptism--record at and birth registration. Birth registered in 2nd quarter of 1884, Dublin South District. Edmund was a barrister. His name was listed as Edmund R. Meredith in the 1911 census, at which time he was living with his parents and youngest sister, and as Edmund Richard in the war record. Recorded as a casualty in the Commonwealth War Graves website . Edmund was a chauffeur with the Red Cross. He died of dysentery at Villa Trento. He was buried in the Ravenna War Cemetery in Italy.

His name is listed on a plaque in the Four Courts in Dublin: "In memory of the Irish barristers who fell in the Great War 1914 - 1918"; and also in the Memorial Hall in Trinity College: "In piam memoriam atque honorem qui e lare nostro ad bellum egressi exemplum virtutis supremum dederunt haed aula aedificata est MCMXIV MCMXVIII - optime de Patria meritorum."
On a Meredith tombstone at Mount Jerome Cemetery: "Also of his second son | EDMUND RICHARD | who died 20th August 1917 | while serving with The | British Red Cross in Italy | and was buried at Gradisca | The best of sons and brothers."

Biography

John Carew Meredith was born on 12 Nov 1886 in 6 Mount Street Crescent, Dublin.4 He and Eileen Mary Grech were married on 2 Oct 1931 in Bombay, IndiaG. He died in 1976, at age ~90, in Cirencester Registration District, Gloucestershire.
John attended boarding school in Shrewsbury, England, where he was enumerated in the 1901 census, age 14. The London Gazette Supplement dated 17 December 1917 notes: Captain (acting Major) John Carew Meredith, Royal Garrison Artillery, was awarded the "Croix de Guerre." In 1921, according to his medal index card, he lived at 16 Charing Cross, London SW1.

The Times, 21 Aug. 1931, p. 13: "Forthcoming Marriages: The marriage arranged between Major John Carew Meredith, D.S.O., Royal Artillery, and Eileen Mary Grech will take place in Bombay on October 2."

The family were living at Old Manor Farm House, Ampney Sy Mary in 1939. He was working as a Civilian Accountant at R.A.F. South Cerney.5
