John Ardill was a Farmer and was the son of Robert Ardill, also a Farmer.

She was the second of five children born to John and Marianne (May) Ardill of Knockarlow, Aghancon. She went to school in Aghancon and later to the Preston School in Abbeyleix. On leaving school she trained as a nurse at the Adelaide - Initially at the Victoria Hospital in Cork followed by her main training at the Adelaide Hospital Dublin. After a period at the Adelaide, she went to Queen Charlotte's Hospital, London to undertake her midwifery training. She subsequently returned to the Adelaide when she became both a ward sister and theatre sister. During her twenties she was appointed as Registered Nurse to the Cruise Ship Kenya Castle and spent a couple of years sailing around the world.
She left Ireland in the early 1960's to work as a theatre sister in the English NHS and for a period lived with her elder sister Evie and her family in Lancashire. She subsequently moved into management, and was the administrator of the School of Nursing at Brindle Lodge in Lancashire. She ended her career as the administrator of the North West Regional Management Staff College. She returned to Ireland in the 1980's.

He was the son of William Gibson, a Farmer. He was a Shop Manager living at 1 Main Street, Athlone at the time of his marriage in 1930.

His obituary appeared in the Westmeath Independent edition of 13.02.1954, page 3, as follows:
“Mr. R. Gibson
It is with regret that we announce the death of Mr. Robert Gibson, St.
Brigid's Tce., Athlone, which occurred at his residence on Sunday last, 7th
February.
The late Mr. Gibson who was aged 70 years was for over 50 years
on the staff of John Parsons and Sons, boot merchants, Athlone and was for
some 20 years past a director of that firm.
A native of Co, Cavan, he was well liked and most popular with all sections of
the community in Athlone and his passing has evoked sincere sorrow.
In his younger days he was a keen sportsman and was an active member of the
Athlone Boat Club, the Athlone FAI Club and the Athlone Coursing Club.
The remains were removed to St. Mary's Church, on Sunday night and the funeral
which was largely attended took place on Tuesday afternoon to Cormanagh
Cemetery. Rev. C. Ellison, Rector, Moate offciated at the graveside.
Chief mourners were--Mrs. Irene Gibson (widow) and Miss Lorna Gibson
(daughter).”.
