Raymond Leonard MEREDITH was born on 1 Dec 1875 in Hobart, Tasmania, AustraliaG.1 He and Eva May ALCOCK were married on 30 Aug 1909 in Melbourne, Australia.2 He died on 21 Jun 1946, at age 70, in 45 Bridge Street, Northcote, Victoria, Australia.3 He was buried in Melbourne General Cemetery.4
He was a Master Builder. His building work included:
- Bryant & May's match factory;
- Tasmania House in Little Collins St.;
- Union House of Melbourne University;
- repair of St. John's C of E’s roof (with his son John Raymond;
- the Physics Laboratory at Melbourne University.

His obituary appeared in the edition of the Northcote Leader on 26 Jun 1946, pg. 2, as follows:
“Mr L Meredith - The death occurred on June 21 of Raymond Leonard Meredith at his home, 45 Bridge St., Northcote after a long illness. Mr Meredith was a Master builder and although he had retired for some years, is still well remembered and respected in the building trade as a Master craftsman. Born in Hobart, Tasmania in 1876, he was educated there and then commenced a roving life, residing for a while in England, Europe and the U.S.A. He was in South Africa when the Boer war commenced and joined a South African regiment and became a veteran of the Boer war. Over 30 years ago he came to Northcote where he purchased property in Bridge St., where he and his family have lived ever since. He had many hobbies and became an expert in amateur radio, color photography and cactus growing. He was a wide and prolific reader and this together with a vast practical knowledge, rounded off a versatile and well-balanced mind which attracted to him many friends in all walks of life. He leaves a wife, Eva May Meredith, a daughter, Dr Mary Meredith (now Mrs Hallgren) and two sons, Jack (a builder) and Bob (an architect). “

A transcription of his headstone reads “In loving memory of Raymond Leonard MEREDITH husband of May father of Mary, Jack and Bob died 21 Jun 1946 and Eva May died 25 Jun 1968, 86 years”.5
