Winnifred Olive Frances ROCHE was born ca. 1913. She and Harcourt Frederick MEREDITH were married on 8 Sep 1947 in Church of the Ascension, Ottawa. She died on 11 Sep 1991, at age ~78.
She was the daughter of Mr and Mrs William Francis Roche of Ottawa. Her marriage was announced in the The Ottawa Journal, 8 Sep 1947, Monday, Page 12, as follows:
“Miss Roche Weds H.F. Meredith
The marriage of Winnifred Olive Frances, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Francis Roche, to Mr. Harcourt Frederick "Harry" Meredith, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Meredith, of Ottawa, was held on Saturday at the Church of the Ascension. Rev. A. E. L. Caulfeild officiated at the four o'clock ceremony. Miss Elizabeth Thomson played the wedding music.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by Miss Helen Gray as maid of honor, and by her cousins, Mrs. Pat Roche and Miss Shirley Roche, as bridesmaids. Little Miss Judith Sanders was flower girl The best man was Mr. Hugh Hugglns and the ushers were Mr. Jack Truman and Mr. Robert Lahey.
A long gown of white crêpe faconne fashioned on princess lines with a square neckline, long sleeves coming to points over the hands and a slight train was worn by the bride. Her floor-length veil was of tulle illusion and was arranged from a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a sheaf of gladioli.
Following a reception at the home of the bride's parents, the couple left for a wedding trip to North Bay and Sudbury. For travelling Mrs. Meredith wore a turquoise blue dress with a grey topcoat and blue accessories. On their return they will reside in Ottawa.
Out-of-town guests were: Mrs. Erwin Fetterly, of Montreal; Miss Jean Burfield, Kingston; Mrs. Boyd O'Connor, of New York City, and Mrs. D. Nicole, of Glasgow, Scotland.”
