Biography

Anne MEREDITH and Ringrose WOODS were married on 27 Jan 1820 in St. John's, Limerick.
She was adopted. Her marriage was announced in the 3 Feb 1820 edition of the Freeman's Journal, transcribed as follows:
"On the 27th ult. in Limerick, Ringrose Woods, Esq. of Ballyquin, county Clare, to Miss Anne Meredith, adopted daughter of Miss Honora Meredith, of Limerick"

A memorial of her marriage settlement dated 27 Jan 1820 was registered with the Registry of Deeds on 19 Feb 1820. It refers to a deed of 21 Mar 1803 in which Luke Lord Clonbrock granted annuities to Honora Meredith, William Monsell and Margaret his wife. David Meredith was an executor of the settlement.1

Sir John BROWNE

Biography

Sir John BROWNE was born ca. 1586. He and Frances HERBERT were married. He died in 1639, at age ~53, in East Kirkby, Lincolnshire.
He was the son of Sir Valentine Browne of Croft and Elizabeth Monson daughter of Sir John Monson.

His will dated 16 April 1639 was granted probate on 2 Jul 1639.. It specified that he was to be buried in the Chancel of the Church of East Kirkby. It mentions:

- Frances, daughter
- Cicely, daughter

It also names Sir John Monson, kinsman, and Sir John Danvers, father-in-law. In about March 1609, Sir John Danvers married Magdalen Herbert (née Newport), widow of Richard Herbert and so became Sir John's step-father-in-law.1

Frances HERBERT

Biography

Frances HERBERT and Sir John BROWNE were married. She died ca. 1669 in Weston, Co. Montgomery.1
She was the daughter of Richard Herbert of Llyssyn and Magdalen Newport, daughter of Sir Richard Newport. She was the sister of George Herbert, the religious poet.

Her will dated 21 Dec 1668 was proved on 8 Jul 1669. It asks for her to be buried in the church of Montgomery. It mentions:

Griffith Kyffin, of Cae Coch

Biography

Griffith Kyffin, of Cae Coch, and Lowry Vaughan were married. He died ca. 1653.
Bailiff of Llanfyllin in 1598 and again in 1622. He appears to have been a delightful old man, and in his will dated 22nd February, 1652/3, appears to have remembered every one of his numerous grandchildren. He also remembered to leave £5 to a local farmer whose sheep had been worried by one of his dogs

John Kyffin

Biography

John Kyffin and Frances Parry were married bef. 1623.
Eldest son, married Frances, daughter of Bishop Parry of
St. Asaph, who was so closely associated with the first issue of the Bible in Welsh.
They had no son and only one daughter, Jane, who married her cousin, Richard
Parry. Bishop Parry had a son, Richard, who was Sheriff of Flint in 1633/4
and who died in 1649. The funeral arrangements of Sheriff Parry were organised
by Randle Holme, Junior, Mayor of Chester in 1643, with full heraldic splendour.
Mrs. Frances Kyffin died in 1637 and was buried at Wrexham.1

Charles Kyffin

Charles Kyffin and Margaret Kyffin, of Bodfach, were married ca. 1654. He died in Oct 1669.
The second son, served an apprenticeship as a mercer in
Llanfyllin, but appears to have then resided on his property at Llangadfan. He was appointed Sheriff of Merioneth on 11th November, 1669, before news of his death had reached London.

Cadwalladr Kyffin

Biography

Cadwalladr Kyffin died in 1651.
Third son, took his degree of B.A. at Hart Hall, Oxford, on 19th October, 1620, and his M.A. on 23rd June, 1623. He took Holy Orders and became Vicar of Llanllyfine in 1623 and Rector of Llaniestyn, Co. Caernarvon, in 1631. He was one of the few Clergymen in Bangor Diocese who were not dispossessed during the Commonwealth. He died in 1651 when residing at Saethon in the Parish of Llanfihangel, in Co. Caernarvon. He left only a verbally declared will. He had three children, Griffith, Hugh and Arthur Kyffin. The eldest, Griffith, was apprenticed for 7 years at Oswestry, doubtless as a mercer, for which his grandfather left a legacy.

David Kyffin

Biography

David Kyffin and Jane Edwards were married. He died ca. 1668.
Fourth son, took his B.A. at Balliol College, Oxford,
on 21st October, 1624, and his M.A. at Hart Hall on 26th January, 1629/30. He also took Holy Orders and, described as Clerk, witnessed his father's will in 1653. He was Vicar of Llanyblodwell from 1662 to 1668. He married Jane Edwards, but does not appear to have had any children.

In his will ,dated 1 Dec 1664? and proved 5 Apr 1668, he left legacies to his three nephews, Griffith, Hugh, and Arthur Kyffin, and, after the death of his wife, bequeathed his lands in Garthbeibio to his brother, Watkin Kyffin, and, after his death, to the survivors of his niece, Margaret, wife of Sir William Williams, the first Baronet, and her heirs, his niece Sina Kyffin and heirs, his niece Dorothy Kyffin and heirs, his niece Katherine Kyffin and heirs, and his brother Watkin Kyffin’s heirs, in order of preference.
