Biography
Richard MEREDITH was born ca. 1675 in Wales. He and Anne BROWNE were married ca. 1700. He died in 1752, at age ~77, in Ireland.2
He is described in different sources as either the 2nd son or the 3rd son.
According to Burke’s Landed Gentry of Great Britain and Ireland, Richard, having married a niece of Edward the 2nd Lord Herbert of Chirbury, was sent to manage the estates in Ireland, a fair proportion of which was settled on him. However, it appears that Richard’s wife Anne Browne was a granddaughter of the 2nd Lord Herbert. Moreover, a memorial of a deed of 1724 describes the sale of the estates in Ireland by Lord Herbert to William Browne, Anne’s father, in 1656. Anne inherited the estates as the sole heir of her father, which then came into the possession of Richard Meredith through his marriage. The deed also names three children, Richard, William and Anne, and the imminent marriage of his son Richard to Honora Fitzgerald.2,1,3,4

Biography
Richard HERBERT, 2nd Baron of Chirbury and Castle Island, was born ca. 1600.2 He and Mary EGERTON were married on 19 Nov 1627.2,3 He died on 13 May 1655, at age ~55.3
Richard Herbert succeeded as second Baron Herbert of Chirbury and second Baron Herbert of Castle Island on the death of his father in August 1648. He was active for the Royalists during the civil war, after which he was heavily fined by parliament and required to demolish Montgomery Castle.4

Edward HERBERT, 1st Baron of Chirbury and Castle Island, was born ca. 1582. He and Mary HERBERT were married. He died on 5 Aug 1648, at age ~66.
Edward Herbert was the first Baron Herbert of Chirbury and first Baron Herbert of Castle Island. He was a diplomat and philosopher, and the eldest son of Richard and Magdalen Herbert of Montgomery Castle.2

Edward Herbert succeeded as third Baron Herbert of Chirbury and third Baron Herbert of Castle Island on the death of his father in 1655. There were no children from either of his two marriages.3
