Richard Meredith was born on 21 May 1867 in Ireland.1 He and Ada Louise Middleton were married on 14 Dec 1892 in Rathmichael Church, Rathdown, IrelandG.2 He and Eleanor Mary Dufty were married in 1922 in Kings Norton Registration District, England. He died on 4 Jan 1957, at age 89, in 12 Clarence Road, Windsor, EnglandG.3
His obituary from the January 7, 1957 Times newspaper was as follows:
"Mr. Richard Meredith, C.S.T., C.I.E. died on Friday. He was 89. He was the son of Sir James Creed Meredith and was educated at the Royal School, Armagh, Trinity College, Dublin, and the Royal Indian Engineering College. He became an Assistant Superintendent in the Indian Telegraph Department in 1889 and was prmoted Superintendent in 1901.
He was Director of Telegraphs, Easter Bengal and Assam, from 1910 to 1911 and from 1911 to 1913 was Director of Construction. He was appointed Director-General, Telegraph Traffice in 1914 and this post he held until 1916 when he became Chief Engineer, Telegraphs. He retired in 1922. He was made C.I.E. in 1914 and C.S.I. in 1919.
Meredith married in 1892 Ada Louise, daughter of Alfred Hancock Middleton. She died in 1920. He married in 1922 Eleanor Mary, widow of B.M. Samuelson, C.I.E."
