His obituary appeared in the Huon and Derwent Times on Thu 30 May 1940, p. 7:
“The funeral of the late Mr Francis Brady Hill was held in the Roman Catholic cemetery, Geeveston, on Wednesday, May 22. Requiem Mass was celebrated at the church. The Rev. L. Sherry officiated, assisted by Rev. F. Kent (Cygnet) and Rev. P. Murphy. The services were attended by a large and representative gathering, including pupils of the convent school.
The late Mr. Hill, who was in his 85th year, was a lifelong resident of Geeveston, and his recollections embraced almost the whole story of its development. He was a son of Richard Hill, pioneer miller, and was engaged in the timber business, storekeeping and orcharding. He gave service to his fellow orchardists as a member of the Local Board of Agriculture and the Central Huon Fruit Board, and was at one time secretary to the Road Trust. He was for many years secretary of the Foresters' Lodge, and was for a long time Government valuator for the district.
His first wife, formerly Miss Mary Ellen Fitzpatrick, died about 25 years ago. He subsequently married Miss Rose Meredith, who survives him. His family include Frank, Harold, William and Julian Hill and Mesdames Fahey (Josie), and Donohue (Ella), to all of whom sympathy is extended.
The late Mr Hill was a prominent and most respected member of the Roman Catholic community and the Rev. Sherry, in his funeral ovation, paid a tribute to the faithfulness with which the deceased had served his church.”.
