Biography

Vivian Ebenezer Edward Rollins was born on 7 Nov 1885 in Sandfly, Tasmania, Australia. He died on 5 Oct 1917, at age 31, in Belgium.
He enlisted as a Private in the 40th Australian Infantry Battalion on the 15 Mar 1916, occupation given as Orchardist. He embarked on the ship Berrima from Hobart on 1 July 1916, arriving at Devonport, England, on 22 Aug, and then to action in France on 23 Nov. He was admitted to hospital in England in Feb 1917 with gunshot wounds to his arm and leg, returning to his unit in April when they had healed. He was killed in action in Belgium on 5 Oct 1917.2
