The earliest reference to Mathew Meredith of Rearymore is in a deed of 1751 (cited in a later deed of 1765) in which he was one of three lives named in the lease, and described as the youngest son of Thomas Meredith.
He was listed in the Queen’s County Poll Books of 1760 and 1779 and the 1775 List of Electors for Queens County.
The baptism record for daughter Elizabeth in 1768 indicated that Matthew and Lois lived at "Rarymore."
A deed of 1776 describes the terms for his lease of the town and lands of Clarahill, formerly in the possession of Thomas Meredith, and mentions his wife Lois Meredith nee Calcutt.
Mathew's will was dated 16 July 1793 and proved on 28 Jun 1794. It named the following children: sons Joseph, Mathew and John; daughters Primrose, Lois, Anne, Elizabeth Bell and Catherine Collins.

- [S2134] Obituary of Frederick William Hoysted, Kildare Observer and Eastern Counties Advertiser-18 May 1901, pg. 5, - “DEATH OF AN OLD KILDARE SPORTSMAN. We learn from our Australian exchanges of the death of Mr Frederick Wm Hoysted, an old racing identity of Victoria, which occurred as a result of injuries received by an accidental fall at the residence of one of his daughters. Deceased, who was 83 years of age, was born at Walterstown House, Nurney, county Kildare, and was the second son of the late John Hoysted, a well-known and extensive landholder in the county. In his younger days he was a prominent man in racing and hunting circles, and in the sixties and seventies was a successful trainer of racehorses at the Antipodes. The Iate Mr F W Hosted was the owner of the two famous racehorses, Vandyke and Tommy Moore, who flourished close on half a century back. It is interesting to recall the fact that Punchestown was once the property of the John Hoysted referred to, who willed it to Frederick's brother William, at whose demise the latter’s sister, Mrs Meredith, Derrylough, Rosenalis, Queen's County, inherited it. Mr Rice Meredith, who died a few years ago, was afterwards owner, and he disposed of his interest to the Kildare Hunt Club. The late Mr Frederick Hoysted, it may be mentioned, was first cousin of Mr Willie Hoysted’s father.”

“Sir, Can you, or any of your readers, kindly inform me if there is any chance of compensation being awarded to those unfortunate individuals whose cars were confiscated or stolen? I have, for some considerable time past, anxiously scanned the columns of your influential journal for some advocate more able than myself to broach the subject, but it seems to be fast lapsing into the sweet by-and-bye.
My car was taken by armed men on the night of April 11th, 1922, and only those who, like myself, could not afford to buy another, can appreciate the trouble, inconvenience, and expense which the loss has entailed. I duly applied through the Irish Claims Registration Bureau, London, for compensation. They referred me to the County Council, but my solicitor said that they would not entertain the claim, as it was not a malicious injury. I should now be vastly “entertained” to know the proper course to adopt.
- Yours, etc.,
P.E. Meredith

3 She died on 19 Nov 1878, at age ~55, in 10 Cullenswood Avenue, Dublin.
4,5 Anne Hoysted was the second daughter of John Hoysted, of Wallerstown House, Co. Kildare..
According to a family story recounted by her granddaughter, Mrs. Martel, Anne died when her youngest son [John Baldwin Hoystead Meredith] was 7 years old. However, the death registration shows that he would have been aged 14 then.
A newspaper account of the death of her brother Frederick William Hoystead in 1901 recalls that Punchestown was once the property of their father John Hoysted, who willed it to his son William, who in turn willed it to Anne. Her son Rice Meredith was the owner afterwards and he disposed of his interest to the Kildare Hunt Club. Punchestown was a famous racing and hunting estate and there has been a racecourse there to the present day.
