Ellinor Aice Deacon was the 3rd daughter of Rev. George Deacon, Rector of Fanlobbus, Dunmanway, Co. Cork and his wife Helena Jane Taylor.

She served in the Anglo Boer War, as a Nursing Sister, with the Princess Christian’s Army Nursing Service Reserve.  She was mentioned in a Despatch from Earl Roberts In September 1901 for rendering special and meritorious service during the War.  She was awarded the Queen’s South Africa Medal.  In 1904 she gained Midwife certification with the London Obstetrical Society.1,2,4
