“THE LATE MR. JAMES _VANSTON.—We chronicle with regret to-day the death of Mr James Vanston, of Maryborough. Mr Vanston, who was in his 81st year, was for some time in a delicate state of health, but his death, which took place at an early hour on Saturday morning, was somewhat unexpected. He was one of the oldest inhabitants of Maryborough, and was much respected by those who knew him. He was elected to the office of Secretary to the County Infirmary in the year 1834—almost half a century ago—and up to his death he discharged the duties of the position with integrity and ability. He was for twenty years Public Registrar of the district. Mr Vanston’s remains were interred at Maryborough on Tuesday, and were followed to the grave by a large and respectable concourse of people.”.
