4 Unclear if this is a second Thomas born to Thomas and Rebecca or if his birth date recorded incorrectly in 1900 census. No birth or baptism record for 1852 identified in Clonenagh records. Descendants have info that he was son of Thomas Meredith and Rebecca Pattison, although his death registration names his mother as Rebecca Wilkinson. Marriage register confirms parents were Thomas Meredith and Rebecca Pattison.
He was a carpenter living in Dublin at the time of his marriage - unknown when he moved from Queen's county to Dublin. Baptism record for son Thomas Joseph gives address as 96 James Street.
He was a carpenter when his eldest children were baptised in Ireland. Death registration in USA also says he was a carpenter, widower, birth date unknown, age 62, cause of death broncho-pneumonia (from ancestry.com).
Thomas Meredith of Brooklyn, New York in 1900: first immigrated to USA in 1867, employed as a carpenter. Apparently Thomas returned to Ireland before his marriage there in 1876. Uncertain when he returned to USA --he did not travel with his wife when she arrived in 1883 with their 3 eldest children. In 1910 Thomas was a widower living with the six youngest children: Elizabeth 24, Alice 22, Annie 20, John 18, Thomas 19 and May 15; and two grandchildren: Margaret (7) and James (9) Dunn, children of his daughter Catherine. At that time Thomas was said to have 7 living children of 11 born. In 1920 his unmarried children, Thomas and Mary, were living with their sister, Anna Hearne.
Could he be the Thomas who arrived in NY 23 February 1866 on the ship England? If so, he was said to be 15 and was accompanied by John 17, Edward 19, Susan 20 and George 34. All of the men were said to be labourers and Susan was a spinster. They thus seem to be brothers and sister, and more or less fit the known children of Thomas Meredith and Rebecca Pattison, except for George.

William Henry Meredith
M, #1240, b. 19 May 1859, d. 1 December 1945
Parents
Biography
William Henry Meredith was born on 19 May 1859 in Birmingham, England
G.
1 He was baptised on 24 Jul 1859 in St. George’s, Birmingham, England.
1 He and
Sarah Jane Mitchell were married on 15 Jul 1895 in Yorkton, Assiniboia (now Saskatchewan.)
2 He died on 1 Dec 1945, at age 86, in Vancouver, British Columbia.
2 In 1881 William was said to be 21 years old and born in England. The 1861 census for England notes that William was 1 year old and had been born in Birmingham. In 1901 he gave his birth date as 19 June 1862, born England, immigrated in 1868 and of Irish descent. The family bible gives his birth date as 19 May 1859, which agrees with the date of birth entered on his baptismal record. The IGI has Wm born in Yorkton (obviously this is not correct) 15 Feb 1859 and lists two different death dates: 3 May and 5 October 1945. The family bible records his death as 1 Dec 1945. These various records may refer to two (or even more) different men, but seems unlikely. The immigration date of 1868 fits the birth places and ages listed for their children in 1881. In 1901 they were in Arthur, Brandon district, Manitoba. In 1911 they lived in Vancouver, BC--the address appears to be 231 West 11th Avenue (families on either side live in 2500 and 2600 blocks of Alberta St.).
A presentation prepared by Dr. Rice Howard Meredith, William's son, sheds light on the travels of this family:
"In the spring of 1882 my father, William, age 23, joined a party of fifteen from the Alliston [Ontario] area who called themselves the York Farmers' Colonization Co. Ltd., in a trek to the District of Assiniboia, North West Territories [now part of Saskatchewan]. There being no railway connecting east and west in Canada, they went through the USA via Chicago and St. Paul, and north to Winnipeg. From Winnipeg they travelled by rail to Brandon, which was the end of steel at that time. From Brandon they went by ox-cart and wagon to their planned destination which later came to be called York Colony, now Yorkton, Province of Saskatchewan.
"The spent the summer filing on their homesteads, building sod or log shacks, and putting up a supply of hay to feed their oxen during the winter. In early October, most of the new settlers returned to the east for the winter, leaving my father and one other to stay and look after their forty oxen and one horse. These two were joined by two young Englishmen, the four being the first white men to winter in that area. Their food supplies were limited to oatmeal, tea, flour, syrup, dried apples and a small quatity of salt pork. They had no butter, sugar or milk. Their horse died, and consequently they were obliged to stay in all winter, and they did not see another living soul except on Indian who rode by on horseback late in March. No one called and no mail was received from October till late April.
"The other settlers ultimately lived up to the terms of their homesteading, and all were involved in the Metis rebellion of 1885. The other members of my father's family moved out to York Colony in the next few years, and remained in that general area until the early 1900's when they all moved out to B.C. where they remained, that is all but me."
Rice also noted: "In 1895 my parents were married in Yorkton, moving to Manitoba in 1900 and west to Vancouver in 1907."

Rice Meredith1
M, #1245, b. about 1797, d. 26 March 1867
Parents
Biography
Rice Meredith was born ca. 1797 in Ireland. He and
Anne Hill were married. He died on 26 Mar 1867, at age ~70, in Clondarig, Queen's County. He was buried on 28 Mar 1867 in Maryborough, Queen's Co., Ireland
G.
2 The Tithe Applotment of 1829/30 recorded Rice Meredith as having ca 32 acres at Clondarrig. The Maryborough East voter registration of Rice Meredith of "Clondarrigmoyle" 20 October 1840 is mostly likely to be this man.
In the Griffith’s Valuation of 1850 he is recorded as the lessor of over 50 acres. He was a widower at the time of his death in 1867. There is a note that an old corn [grist or flour] mill once stood a few hundred yards from the Clondarrig cemetery and was run by a family named Meredith--presumably Rice or someone from his family.

G.
2 He and
Frances Thompson were married on 28 Jan 1865 in Offerlane Parish, Queen's County.
3 He died on 4 Jun 1911, at age 78, in Massachusetts, USA
G. He was buried on 7 Jun 1911 in Hope Cemetery, Worcester, Massachuseotts
G.
Baptism recorded in Maryborough Register, p. 29, # 283. 1900 Census for Worcester, Mass. gives birth date of Feb. 1840--age given was 60, 5 years older than Frances? Samuel and Frances immigrated to USA in 1889. His occupation there was Mill Laborer.
A notice in the 19th January 1878 edition of the Irish Times reported the following:
"BANKRUPTCY DIVISION (Before Judge Miller) In re Samuel Meredith. The bankrupt was a farmer at Clondarrick, Queen's County. Mr. Carton, Q.C. (instructed by Mr. Croakerry), on behalf of the assignees, examined him as to the sale of his farm of 32 acres to Wm. Meredith for £135. He admitted that the farm had been sold, but denied that there had been any previous arrangement to surrender the farm to him again after settling with his creditors, who were relatives of his. The case was adjourned."
In 1894 Samuel, age 60 and his daughter Mary Sheppard, with Mary's three children, sailed from Queenstown to Philadelphia on the ship British Princess, departed 5 Sept. 1894. They were said to be residents of Portarlington. Samuel had not previously been in the USA, he had $100. with him, and he was to visit his son at 11 Cheever St, Worcester, Mass.
His death registration in Massachusetts (on FamilySearch):
Samuel Meredith, wid, age 65, occupation Retired Mill Operative, died 4 Jun 1911, of 20 Locust St, Leicester, Massachusetts, son of Rice Meredith and Annie Hill, born Ireland, cause of death endocarditis, informant was his son (who unfortunately is not named, but see info re: son Rice in Massachusetts, USA census, who immigrated to USA in 1887). Again, there is a problem with his age--if he was 60 in 1900, then couldn't have been 65 in 1911. As well, the death registration incorrectly says his parents were both born in Scotland!
