Esther Elizabeth Broomfield was born on 25 Feb 1843 in Queen's Co., IrelandG. She was baptised on 25 Jun 1843 in Ballyfin parish, Queen's county. She and William Meredith were married on 4 Jun 1873 in Donnybrook church, Ireland. She died on 23 Feb 1926, at age 82, in Cappagh, County LaoisG. She was buried on 28 Feb 1926 in Portlaoise (Maryborough, Queen's County), Ireland.²

She was the daughter of George Twiss Broomfield, a Farmer, and Esther Hipwell (who married in 1841). She was a widow, living in Cappagh, Queen's County in both 1901 and 1911. Her age was said to be 58 and 68. In 1901 she lived with her son Thomas and two daughters in a four room house that was classified as "2nd class." The censuses indicate the family was Methodist--probably why we haven't found any records of them in the Church of Ireland parish records.

He died on 8 Apr 1899, at age 57, in Queen's County Infirmary, Maryborough, Ireland.

Irish Times Thursday 5th June 1873, page 8: "Meredith and Bloomfield - On the 4th inst at Donnybrook Church, by the Rev F W Stuart, William, second son of Thomas Meredith, Esq, The Oaks, to Esther Elizabeth, eldest daughter of George Twiss Bloomfield, Esq, Lower Irey, Queens County."

Note: his death certificate gives the date of death as 19 April, the same date of the death registration by the Queen’s County Infirmary. However, his death was reported in the Leinster Express of 15 April as having been on 8 April:
Leinster Express Saturday April 15 1899, page 5: “Meredith - At Cappagh, on April 8, Wm. Meredith, so of the late T. Meredith, The Oak, aged 58. Deeply regretted by his sorrowing family and a large circle of friends.”.

Thomas Henry Meredith was born on 17 Feb 1875 in Queen's Co., IrelandG.² He and Frances (Fanny) Kate Porter were married on 10 Feb 1909 in Maryborough, Queen's Co., IrelandG.³ He died on 30 May 1957, at age 82, in Togher, Queen's County, IrelandG.⁴ He was buried on 1 Jun 1957 in Portlaoise, IrelandG.⁵

Thomas was a farmer in Cappagh when he and Fanny Kate married in 1908. In 1912 he was identified as a labourer at the baptism of his daughter. By February 1914 when the next child was baptised, he was a caretaker in Togher. Subsequent changes were: January 1920 he was a ranger; October 1922 a keeper; and in July a gamekeeper. He died in Togher in 1957 at the age of 82.

In 1876 William was a section foreman. In 1881 William (45) and Catherine Jane (36) lived in Onandaga, Brant County (North), with their two children Wesley (17) and Mabel (5). In 1901 his birth date was listed as 18 Nov 1836 and they lived in Stratford, Ontario. He was a labourer and said to have immigrated in 1837. In the 1911 census, he is still living in Stratford, Ontario and his birth date is listed as Nov 1834. His death registration gives a birth date of 11 Nov 1832. He appears to have been known as "John", at least in his later years.
