He was the first incumbent at Bracebridge, Muskoka, Ontario, arriving from St. James' Cathedral, Toronto, immediately after his ordination as a Deacon. He soon raised $1000 to pay for a new church building, a picturesque, white-painted, wooden church. He became an Anglican minister at Holy Trinity Church, Bond Head, Tecumseth, Ontario from 1875 until 1895.
