She was the daughter of William Rixon, an Attorney. Her middle name is transcribed as Gumersall in the index of Ancestry.com, but it may have been Gomersall or Gommersall. Her mother’s maiden name was Gandell and there was a firm of bill-brokers in London in the early 1800s called Gomersall, Gandell & Co, which may be the origin of her unusual middle name.
Her 2nd marriage was to Captain Martin Samuel Sharp in 1868.
